More than 9,500 tourists visited the recently revamped Isthmus Tourist Info Kiosk near the Corinth Canal in August and September, said the Loutraki Tourism Organization recently, adding that figures were fast approaching pre-Covid 2019 levels.

Since the launch of operations in spring, the Isthmus Tourist Info Kiosk has welcomed more than 12,500 visitors from 45 countries with August being the best performing month.

In September, travelers who visited the kiosk were mainly from France, Germany, Spain, US, UK, Greece, Italy, Israel, China and Poland.

The info kiosk was recently upgraded in order to meet the increasing visitor demand and improve the traveler experience of the Peloponnese Region, Corinth and of the Corinth Isthmus. The project was part of a series of large-scale works in the area that included the installation of a platform offering visitors unique views of the Corinth Canal and carried out by the Peloponnese Region.

The info kiosk offers high-speed Wi-Fi and is manned with multilingual staff.

Earlier this month, officials announced that the Corinth Canal would shut down to enter phase 2 of previously announced upgrade works, after three months of operation over the summer.

The canal is scheduled to reopen in the summer of 2023.

In the July-September period, some 6,000 sea vessels from over 70 countries crossed the canal achieving the best performances in the last 20 years.
