Aviation-Event Appoints Athens Airport’s Ioanna Papadopoulou as Co-president

Aviation-Event, a leading conference, media, and networking platform for the international travel and tourism industry, on Monday announced its new co-presidency with Ioanna Papadopoulou, Director of Communications & Marketing at Athens International Airport (AIA), and Peter Baumgartner, former CEO of Etihad Airways and Chairman of advisory firm Bluearbre Ltd.

The Aviation-Event Supervisory Board comprises leading aviation executives and industry advisors who collectively commit to the development of a sustainable industry for all members of the travel ecosystem and its customers.

Commenting on her appointment, Papadopoulou said she was honored to be elected to the co-presidency of the Supervisory Board of Aviation-Event.

“I thank my fellow members of the Board for their trust and look forward to working collaboratively with this well-regarded group of industry leaders and experts towards contributing to the travel industry’s sustainable progress in the post-pandemic era,” she added.

Peter Baumgartner joined the Supervisory Board of Aviation-Event in the midst of the Covid crisis to support the organization in navigating challenging times.

“Ioanna and I are teaming up to lead Aviation-Event together with our fellow colleagues in the Board into a new era of growth and relevance with the committed goalof strengthening collaboration and exchange across the aviation and wider transportation industries,” Baumgartner said.

The Aviation-Event Supervisory Board had been effectively led by Prof. Adrian von Dörnberg over more than five years.

“Today, we are proud of appointing Ioanna Papadopoulou and Peter Baumgartner as the organization’s new Co-Presidents to build upon the strong foundation and lead the Aviation–Event platform into its next phase of growth,” Aviation-Event CEO Marcel Riwalsky said.

Prof. von Dörnberg remains closely associated with Aviation-Event as an Honorary Member of the Supervisory Board.
