Crowds, Interest Peak at 86th Thessaloniki Trade Fair
Greece’s most influential trade show, the 86th Thessaloniki International Fair (TIF), where every year the prime minister delivers his address to the nation, attracted some 212,363 visitors and 1,500 exhibitors this year over nine days, fast approaching pre-pandemic levels, organizers TIF-Helexpo said.
This year, the Thessaloniki fair marked the remembrance of the 100th anniversary since the Asia Minor Catastrophe and honored the United Arab Emirates (UAE) with dozens of parallel events.
More than 65 UAE enterprises active in investment management, energy, F&B, defense, space technology, tourism, shipping, real-estate participated in the fair led by a delegation headed by the country’s economy minister, Abdulla bin Touq Al Mari.
Held during September 10-18 at the Thessaloniki International Exhibition Center under the auspices of the Macedonia – Thrace Ministry, the fair ran under the motto: “Forward for Green” and also included the participation of 46 of the country’s chambers.
Support measures announced by Greek PM
During the event, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis announced a new round of support measures budgeted at 5.5 billion euros for the rest of 2022 and 2023 aimed at supporting Greeks impacted by the ongoing energy crisis and inflationary pressures as well actions that will take Greece’s tourism sector into a new era.
According to the Federation of Industries of Greece, more than 100 business meetings were held during the fair which focused on Greece and entrepreneurship, digital Greece, “Akademia”, circular economy, automotive and e-mobility, gastronomy, international participations, e-politeia, furniture and home.
