New Greek Tourism Promo Film to Debut at Animasyros 2022
A tourism cartoon promoting Greece will officially launch the highly anticipated Animasyros International Animation Festival which kicks off on September 20 on the island of Syros, and welcomes the best in the field.
The Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO) said that the new animation promo video, which presents Greece as an ever-evolving sustainable destination, will debut at Animasyros 2022.
“We are proud to be supporting Animasyros, a unique celebration connecting people, cultures and creators while promoting Greece abroad,” said GNTO Secretary General Dimitris Fragakis.
Fragakis referred to the GNTO’s participation in Animasyros last year, which he said was a milestone. “For the first time in history, Greek tourism, with the help of the festival’s creative team, acquired the first promotional video campaign aimed at children and their parents”.
The GNTO’s secretary general said the event contributed significantly to the promotion of Greece and serves as a meeting point for professionals and animation enthusiasts to exchange views, expand their network and promote their work.
In its 15th year, Animasyros is the largest international animation festival in Greece and among the Top 20 of its kind in Europe.
This year it will feature more than 200 films by artists from 43 countries and includes eight competition sections (international, student, K.id.s, AnimaPride, national competition, TV & commissioned films, feature films & EU values), special tributes, educational workshops, international collaborations and the annual Agora, which serves as a networking point for animation artists in the Eastern Mediterranean and which this year in collaboration with France’s NEF Animation will hold round-table events, workshops, masterclasses and meetings.
The annual animation celebration will run through to September 25 and is jointly organized by the Syros-Ermoupolis Municipality, the South Aegean Region, and Platforma-Urban Culture Co, ‘powered’ by Greece’s Public Power Corporation, with the support of the GNTO.
The workshops this year will be dedicated to the 100-year remembrance of the Asia Minor Catastrophe.
The festival opens at 8pm on September 22 at the Apollo Theater with the presentation of the GNTO’s new animated promo video produced by Animasyros.
Access to events in Ermoupolis, Ano Syros, Vari, Poseidonia and Finikas is free.
