Larissa is Host Destination of Major Cities of Europe In-person Conference
The Greek city of Larissa in November will host the Major Cities of Europe’s annual conference, an event dedicated to the digital transformation of cities in the post-Covid-19 era.
Larissa will host the event’s in-person edition for the first time during November 2-4. The city had again hosted the conference in 2021, as an online event.
“We are very pleased to welcome the annual conference of the Major Cities of Europe network to the city of Larissa. After a long period of restrictive measures due to the coronavirus pandemic, we will finally be able to meet in person and discuss a number of issues concerning local authorities,” Larissa Mayor Apostolos Kaloyiannis said.
Participants to come from all over Europe
Co-organized by the Municipality of Larissa under the auspices of the Thessaly Region, the conference is expected to host hundreds of delegates – local governors, mayors and other local officials – from all over Europe, that are involved in the development of innovative solutions and services for cities and communities.
Titled “From chaos to cosmos – innovative communities, places and cities”, the conference will focus on the following issues:
- building from the learnings of Covid
- becoming digital by design
- platforms and data for cities
- empowering citizens and civil servants
- creating smart places for smart living and tourism
- 100 Climate Neutral Cities, EU Mission
- breaking barriers between health and social care
- becoming resilient and secure in the real and cyber worlds.
Participation is open to local government managers, experts, and practitioners and in general those involved in innovation in local governments.
