LGBTQ+ Pride Event to Take Place on Santorini

The popular Greek island of Santorini is getting ready to host its first Pride event for the LGBTQ+ community.

The event, set to take place during August 25-28, will be organized by the Santorini Sky luxury resort and bespoke LGBTQ+ adults-only US travel company VACAYA.

According to an announcement by VACAYA, while Santorini, like other Greek islands, has always welcomed the LGBTQ+ community with open arms, until now there hasn’t been a defined Pride celebration.

“Santorini Sky wanted to change that and worked with world-leading LGBTQ+ travel company VACAYA to create this very special Santorini Pride Weekend.”

From August 25 until August 28, Santorini Sky and partner hotel Voreina Gallery Suites will host international travelers from VACAYA for three sold-out days of incredible experiences.

The amazing first-of-its-kind program includes a welcome event at Santorini Sky’s “The Lodge” villa, a day at the Theros Wave Bar, private helicopter rides along the caldera, local wine and culinary experiences, and more.

VACAYA CEO Randle Roper commented that Santorini is taking a big step in its progressive LGBTQ+ acceptance journey.

“We’re so thrilled to be here for this history-making moment with Santorini Sky, who has been leading the charge in diversity since they opened in 2020 at the highest point on the island,” Roper said.

Located at the top of Prophet Elias Mountain on Santorini, at 2,000 feet above sea level, Santorini Sky is a luxurious resort, made up of magnificent private villas.

“As travel quickly bounces back around the world, Santorini Sky are proud to work towards a future of openness and acceptance, celebrating diversity in people, places, and the planet.”

Santorini’s first pride event will be captured and shared with the world by Kimon, a local photographer who calls himself “a storyteller of wild and roaming hearts”.
