Dutch travelers prefer to go to Greece before and after the high tourism season and more specifically in June and September, according to a survey carried out by Griekenland.net recently.

Griekenland.net is a Dutch website that offers info and holiday tips about Greek destinations.

According to its survey, Dutch holidaymakers clearly prefer June and September – right before and just after the high tourism season – to discover the Greek islands and mainland.

In total, 1,109 votes were cast for the survey and the months of June and September were chosen by 27 percent of voters as favorites for holidays to Greece.

Travelers said that Greece’s pleasant temperature and attractive prices during the two months were enough to influence their travel plans as well as the fact that June and September are not as “busy” as July and August.

May, July attractive travel months in Greece

More into the survey, 14 percent of respondents chose May as the ideal month to travel to Greece, showing that the school holiday period in the Netherlands is popular for getaways.

With 12 percent of the votes, July came in fourth place as a great travel month.

August with 9 percent and October with 5 percent followed in fifth and sixth place respectively.

The period from November to April received no votes, showing that the Dutch are perhaps not very fond of winter vacations.
