New Info Kiosk for Tourists Opens at Kalamata International Airport
The Peloponnese Region has unveiled the new tourism information kiosk at Kalamata International Airport “Captain Vassilis Constantakopoulos” near the city of Kalamata.
Operating since Wednesday by trained staff, the new info kiosk welcomes visitors to Kalamata, offers information to visitors and also records potential problems observed by travelers.
“Tourism drives the country’s economic development; it needs the human element,” Peloponnese Governor Pangiotis Nikas said during the ribbon-cutting ceremony held for the kiosk’s inauguration.
This is the fourth info kiosk operating in the Peloponnese as three are already available in the Corinth Isthmus, Nafplio and Sparti. One more is expected to soon open in Leonidio.
During the info kiosk’s inauguration, Nikas also referred to the significant investments that have taken place in the wider area of Kalamata in recent years, including the development of the Costa Navarino resort.
“These investments have further increased air traffic to Kalamata and played a substantial role in the airport’s evolution into an international airport and one of AEGEAN Airlines’ bases,” the governor said.
Speaking during the event, Kalamata Airport Head Akrivi Vlachou also confirmed that this year’s overall air traffic has almost reached pre-pandemic (2019) levels, with international arrivals exceeding the numbers of 2019.
The inauguration ceremony was also attended by Messini Hoteliers Association President Dimitris Karalis, Costa Navarino executives, local tourism professionals and representatives of local authorities.
