Greece Hosting Variety of Sailing Competitions in 2022

As the Greek summer is the ideal season for holidays it is also the time when some of the most fascinating sailing competitions are scheduled to take place.

Posidonia Exhibitions has released a list of sailing races that visitors can watch or participate in Greece this year.

The following sailing events will take place in Greece in the coming months:

59th Aegean Sailing Rally

The 59th Aegean Rally will be held on June 11-20 2022. Ιt is the oldest sailing competition event in Greece. This year, the start area for the competing performance or sport boats will be at Cape Sounio, Attica, the course of the race will take you to the islands of Kea, Kythnos and Andros (Cyclades) and up to Volissos, Chios Island and Psara Island, and then back to Sounio, Attica.

Spetses Classic Yacht Regatta

The Spetses Classic Yacht Regatta will take place from 23 to 26 June 2022 in the Argolic Gulf. You will see yachts of various types, classic boats, Aegean schooners, as well as traditional work boats and open boats, with crews from all over the world.

2nd AEGEAN 600 Yacht Race

The second AEGEAN 600 Yacht Race will run this year from 8 to 16 July 2022. This non-stop 600nm offshore sailing race will start at Cape Sounio, Attica and contestants will reach the islands of Milos, Santorini, Kasos, Karpathos, Rhodes, Kantelousa, Kos, Kalolimnos, Farmakonisi, Agathonisi, Patmos, Mykonos, Delos, Giaros, Kea, and back to Cape Sounio.

25th Rodos Cup

The Rodos Cup 2022 offshore race will take place for the 25th time in the Dodecanese Islands, and the dates are July 17-22. Participants will enjoy the lovely land and seascapes, the sights and the colourful local traditions. The start area is Kos Island and the route to be followed will include the islands of Nisyros, Tilos, Symi and Rhodes.

Aegean Regatta 2022

The Aegean Regatta 2022 is another major sailing race that is to start on August 21 from Ikaria Island. Entrants will next reach the islands Fournoi, Agathonisi, and Samos (Pythagorio and Vathy harbours) where the closing ceremony will take place on August 27.

12th Catamarans Cup International Regatta

The last event to take place is the 12th Catamarans Cup International Regatta which will start on October 22 from Alimos Marina, Attica, and participants will sail to Poros, Porto Heli, Paralio Astros, Nafplion, and then back to Alimos. The event ends on October 29 2022.
