Lipsi Municipality Says No to Sunbeds on Island’s Beaches
The Municipality of Lipsi is saying “no” to sunbeds on the island’s beaches and is encouraging travelers to enjoy eco-conscious summer holidays this year in order to live authentic experiences.
“We are carrying out a strategy considered innovative in Greece and in Europe… We actively support the replacement of plastics and the abolition of sunbeds, and avoid the use of cars due to the island’s short distances,” Lipsi Mayor Fotis Maggos said in an announcement.
The municipality is calling on travelers to explore Lipsi without a car this summer as well as abstain from technology for a while, and enjoy their vacation with the company of a book.
According to the mayor, the island’s tourism professionals also agree with the municipality’s plan to promote authentic holiday experiences and an ecological mindset among travelers that select Lipsi for their holidays.
The municipality’s proposals for authentic summer vacations this year are supported by five videos (seen above and below).
Lipsi Island (also known as Leipsoi) is a Greek island in the southern Aegean Sea and part of Greece’s Dodecanese Archipelago.
So good to see that not all of Greece’s islands want to become as spoilt as Mykonos!
