Greece Expects Australian Tourists to Arrive in Big Numbers this Year
Significant tourist flows from Australia to Greece are expected in 2022, Greek Tourism Minister Vassilis Kikilias said after a meeting on Friday with Australia’s Ambassador to Greece, Arthur Spyrou.
The minister’s statement comes a few days before the Australian government lifts travel restrictions for vaccinated travelers.
Kikilias welcomed the lifting of restrictions by Australia, which he said, in combination with Greece’s lifting of the Covid-19 test requirement for fully vaccinated travelers from Australia, will have a particularly positive impact to attract more Australian visitors.
On his part, Ambassador Spyrou said he believed that 2022 will be an “extremely successful tourist year”, as current booking figures reveal that an impressive number of Australian travelers are already planning to visit Greece.
