The Donkey Hotels Group, owned by the Ioannou family, has announced its first hospitality investment outside of Athens: a 5-star luxury resort hotel in Messaria on the popular Greek island of Santorini.

Scheduled to open on June 2022 as a member of the Yes! Hotels Group, the new NOŪS Santorini resort will boast a unique character and world-class interior design, blending the island’s history with contemporary flair.

According to Donkey Hotels, NOŪS Santorini comes to offer a new concept beyond the current “5-star” and “luxury” perceptions: it will be a contextual experience that embraces and presents the local topography, produce, arts and culture.

Designed by Divercity Architects, in collaboration with MplusM Architects, the resort’s concept draws inspiration from the geometric shapes of the island’s architecture and presents them in modern terms.

NOŪS Santorini will have a capacity of 121 spacious rooms, bungalows and suites, most of which will have private pools and large private gardens.

All of the resort’s rooms are considered separate “neighborhoods”, each with its own style.

NOŪS Santorini will have two restaurants with menus based on fresh products sourced from Santorini and all over Greece.

Visitors of the resort will also have the opportunity to get acquainted with the wines of the local producers and take part in wine tastings in the special area of Oenous.

The resort will feature a spa with 5 treatment rooms, indoor and outdoor pool, sauna, Turkish bath, cold tank, gym and outdoor yoga area. In addition, a Vitamin Bar will operate in the spa area – a spot where guests can find fresh salads and juices, cereal bars, smoothies and of course local products.

Art will also have its place at NOŪS Santorini.

All of the resort’s common areas and rooms will include volcanic-inspired art works created by 12 Greek artists. Also found in all areas will be modern design icons with the signatures of designers such as Doshi & Levien, Konstantin Grcic and Faye Toogood.

According to Donkey Hotels, NOŪS Santorini comes to complete the hotel collection of YES! Hotels and will offer authentic design and style, art, focus on detail and high level personalized services for every visitor.

The new resort – which is also YES! Hotels’ first outside Athens – follows the “Young Enthusiastic Seductive” triptych that defines the group’s hospitality philosophy.

Launched in February 2021, the Donkey Hotels chain in Greece is the merger of Athinaion Tourist Enterprises SA (Athenaeum Intercontinental Hotel) and Yes! Hotels Group.
