Hilton to Debut ‘Hampton’ Brand in Greece, Open First ‘Curio’ Hotel in Athens

Hilton, a leading global hospitality company, has announced plans to open two hotels in Athens, Greece, following an agreement with SCD, an international real estate investment group.

The global hospitality company will open the “Pentelikon Athens, Curio collection by Hilton” in spring 2024, which will be the first hotel of the “Curio Collection by Hilton” brand in mainland Greece and also debut its “Hampton by Hilton” brand in the country with the “Hampton by Hilton Piraeus Mikrolimano”.

There are currently two Hilton hotels in Greece, the former Hilton Athens (which is currently closed for a major renovation) and the Royal Senses Resort & Spa Crete, Curio Collection by Hilton on Crete. With the addition of the two new hotels in Athens to its Greek portfolio, Hilton will count four hotels in Greece.

“This latest agreement will allow us to take advantage of our long-standing heritage in Athens, introducing two exciting hotel brands to the market. The Curio Collection by Hilton and the Hampton by Hilton are two of our fastest growing brands in Europe, representing almost half of all our hotels,” said Patrick Fitzgibbon, Hilton’s Senior Vice President of Development, Europe, Middle East and Africa.

Hilton’s new “Curio” hotel will be located in the upscale neighborhood of Kifissia in Athens and its “Hampton” hotel will open its doors in Piraeus, the city where Greece’s largest port is located.

“The prosperous port of Piraeus and the lively neighborhood of Kifissia, which is full of shops of famous designers, gourmet restaurants and headquarters of international companies, are the ideal locations to welcome these brands in the Athenian market,” Fitzgibbon said.

Pentelikon Athens, Curio Collection by Hilton

The historic Pentelikon, a 117-room hotel in the luxurious northern suburb of Kifissia, will house Hilton’s first “Curio Collection by Hilton” hotel in Athens when it opens in 2024.

In view of the renowned Pentelikon hotel’s rebranding under the Hilton’s “Curio” collection, SCD group will invest 18 million euros to renovate and upgrade its facilities.

The hotel will also be an ideal quality conference, meetings and events venue as facilities will include three meeting rooms covering 1,300 square meters with a full range of services for business travelers.

A short distance from the center of Athens, the “Pentelikon Athens, Curio Collection by Hilton” will be located near important sights such as the Goulandris Museum of Natural History and the Syggrou Forest.

The Hampton by Hilton Piraeus Mikrolimano

The “Hampton by Hilton Piraeus Mikrolimano” will be Greece’s first property under the “Hampton by Hilton” brand, which is known for its modern and spacious guest rooms and high-quality, value-added amenities.

The 83-room “Hampton by Hilton Piraeus Mikrolimano” will be located in Kastela, the most picturesque district in Piraeus that is famous for its neoclassical architecture, near the marina of Mikrolimano with stunning views of the port.

Theodoros Douzoglou, director and shareholder of SCD, applauded the group’s expansion in Greece in collaboration with a leading international company such as Hilton.

“The recovery of tourism in Greece is very promising and, with such a great and unfulfilled desire for travel, now is the right time to develop high quality hotels in Athens. We look forward to welcoming visitors to the ‘Hampton by Hilton Piraeus Mikrolimano’ and the ‘Pentelikon Athens, Curio Collection by Hilton’,” he said.
