November 2021 Turnover up 166.9% for Greece’s Accommodation Services

Businesses offering accommodation services in Greece saw turnover increase by 166.9 percent in November 2021 compared to the same month in 2020 gaining from the extension of the tourism season, the Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT) said this week.

More specifically, according to ELSTAT’s monthly report, turnover in November 2021 for enterprises active in accommodation services (and obliged to double-entry bookkeeping) came to 118,795,969 euros, up by 78.3 million euros or 166.9 percent over November 2020 (40,515,640 euros).

The biggest increase in the turnover for November 2021 compared with November 2020 was recorded in the regional unit of Mykonos, which was up by 468.7 percent while the smallest increase – 49.7 percent – was recorded in the regional unit of Kos.

For food & beverage (F&B) services providers (obliged to double-entry bookkeeping), November 2021 turnover came to 115,707,850 euros, up by nearly 56.6 million euros or 95.7 percent over November 2020, when turnover was 59,128,712 euros.

The biggest increase in November 2021 turnover compared to the same month a year earlier was recorded in the regional unit of Ioannina, a popular winter destination, up by 603.2 percent and the smallest increase – 29.3 percent – was recorded in the regional unit of Halkidiki.

November 2021 turnover for F&B services providers decreased by 12.8 percent in the regional unit of Evia, which was hit by the devastating fires last summer.
