The Greek Shipping Podcast by Kyvernitis Travel Group – Episode 2: Harry Vafias
Kyvernitis Travel Group has launched “The Greek Shipping Podcast” series, an initiative designed to “give voice” to the people of shipping and convey stories of shipping, seamanship and the sea to its listeners.
The monthly podcast was created out of Kyvernitis’ love for travel and Greek shipping.
Episode 2
The second episode of the “The Greek Shipping Podcast” is online and features Harry Vafias, President, CEO and member of the Board of Directors of StealthGas.
A few words about Harry Vafias
Vafias has been actively involved in the tanker and gas shipping industry since 1999.
At the age of 27 he led StealthGas at the stock market and thus became the youngest CEO of any shipping company listed in any stock market worldwide.
In 2008 he was awarded the SEATRADE “Young Person in Shipping Award” and in 2012 he was honored by Lloyds’ List newspaper for being ‘Newsmaker of the Year”. In 2013 Harry Vafias and StealthGas were awarded by Lloyds’ List newspaper for ‘Best Tanker Company of the Year’.
In the second episode of “The Greek Shipping Podcast”, Kyvernitis discusses with Harry Vafias about the starting point of Stealth Maritime, the working opportunities that the shipping industry has to offer, as well as the risks the Greek ship owners undertake.
Shipping can be frustrating and expensive if you haven’t spent years researching and experimenting on it. Vafias shares about his own path to success; analyzes step by step his long way in the shipping industry; and tells about the defining moment in his career that offered him great success and confirmation that he made the best choices.
