Vaccinated Abroad? All You Need to Know for Greece Recognition
Greek authorities announced on Monday that a portal (in Greek and English) is now open where individuals who have been vaccinated against Covid-19 abroad can declare vaccination status in Greece and request the issue of an EU Digital Covid Certificate.
According to the health and digital governance ministries, individuals with an EU Digital Covid Certificate or with a digital certificate issued in a third country that has been recognized by the EU’s Covid Digital Certificate system can now register their vaccination status online in Greece.
The information will be included on the e-Government Center for Social Security (IDIKA) External Vaccination Register.
To submit information go here.
You will need:
-your TAXISnet codes to log in to the system
-your social security number (AMKA) or PAMKA (temporary AMKA number)
-your passport number or your ID card number
-your Digital Covid Certificate, which you will submit to the system scanned.
The registry is open to individuals who live in Greece and have completed their vaccination:
– in an EU country
– in a third country or territory whose Covid certificate has been recognized by the EU Covid certificate system.
The system will via the submitted certificate’s QR code validate vaccination data and once completed, it will issue a unique code. On the following day, users will be able to issue either a national vaccination certificate or a European Digital Covid Certificate and will also be able to schedule an appointment for a booster dose in Greece on the national emvolio.gov.gr vaccination platform.
Please note that vaccination certificates submitted to the system must:
– still be in force
– contain vaccination data of a vaccine authorized in Greece
– in any other case, citizens are advised to visit a Citizens’ Service Center (KEP).
Covid vaccination certificates issued in the following 33 countries (and territories) are accepted in the EU under the same conditions as the EU Digital Covid Certificate and are also accepted by those 33 countries: Albania, Andorra, Armenia, Cabo Verde, El Salvador, Faroe Islands, Georgia, Israel, Iceland, Lebanon, Liechtenstein, Moldova, Monaco, Montenegro, Morocco, New Zealand, North Macedonia, Norway, Panama, San Marino, Serbia, Singapore, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand, Tunisia, Togo, Turkey, Ukraine, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom and the Crown Dependencies (Jersey, Guernsey and the Isle of Man), Uruguay, and The Vatican.
WHAT IS WRONG WITH GREECE? WHY DOES NOTHING WORK? WHY IS EVERYBODY SO OBSTRUCTIVE? WHY ARE KEP OFFICERS SO UNHELPFUL? ARE THEY LAZY?
THE TEMPORARY AMKA STILL DOES NOT WORK FOR GETTING THE UPDATED CERTIFICTES.
WELL DONE GREECE. 24-7-22
I am a Greek living abroad, I do not have AMKA, and KEP in VOLOS was absolutely rude and useless in giving me any advice about how to enter my vaccination status from the United States. They refused to help. Once the PLF is no longer available for me to have rapid tests every other day, what am I supposed to do while I am visiting Greece? What about foreigners who visit or live here for extended periods? There are millions of Greeks in the USA and many other places and we are treated as second-class citizens.
THE COMPARISON BETWEEN THE INFORMATION ON THE PASSPORT AND THE CERTIFICATE IS DONE ELECTRONICALLY. KINDLY MAKE THE JJOB EASIER FOR US GREEKS WHO ARE ABROAD AND READ/COMPARE THE DOCUMENTS. WE ARE NOT ABLE TO GO TO KEP SINCE WE ARE ABROAD AND WE ARE BEING CHARGED MONTHLY (OVER AGE OF 60) AND WE ARE FULLY VACCINATED.
Other than being open only to people who has AFM number and Taxisnet access, the system actually does not work for foreigners as it doe snot accept passport number or id number of foreign identity documents. Hence if you are not a Greek you can get as far as the field for entering your passport number and then it blocks. And advise to visit KEP, of course 🙂 So back to square 1. Nice try, though.
