Greek Travel Agents Association Joins SUSTOUR EU-funded Project
The Hellenic Association of Travel & Tourist Agencies (HATTA) recently announced its participation in SUSTOUR, an EU-funded project that promotes sustainable development practices among travel agencies and tour operators.
Co-financed by the European COSME program that aims to boost the competitiveness and sustainability of European SMEs, SUSTOUR looks to foster the capacities and skills of 175+ tour operators (SME’s) to implement training and management systems, standards and solutions, which will improve their sustainable management and performance, and open up new market opportunities.
Furthermore, it will offer technical support to tourist agencies and tour operators that wish to improve their sustainability practices.
According to an announcement by HATTA, SUSTOUR will soon invite SMEs to submit their applications and pursue their certification with Travelife, an educational management program, specially designed for tourist agencies and tour operators. Technical support includes training, personal and team guidance for the implementation of best sustainability practices, and the Travelife certification.
“We encourage our members to take advantage of the opportunities provided by this project and contribute step by step to the efforts for a more sustainable tourism sector,” HATTA Presdient Nikolas Kelaiditis said.
The SUSTOUR project runs until September 2023.
“As significant players of the tourism value chain, we share the responsibility to manage tourism in a sustainable way for present and future generations,” he added.
