Metaxa Hospitality Group Showing Suppliers the Way to Sustainability

In its aim to to create a group of sustainable suppliers, the Metaxa Hospitality Group recently held its first meetup with its partners at the TML Candia Maris resort in Heraklion on the Greek island of Crete.

Through the meetup, an action first of its kind, the Metaxa Hospitality Group aimed to “educate” its partner suppliers on the concepts of sustainable food production and sustainable corporate governance.

“The Metaxa Hospitality Group is leading the way by connecting sustainability with social responsibility, also reaffirming that sustainable supply is an important part for the green transition of the hospitality industry,” the company said in an announcement.

Local Food Experts, a social cooperative enterprise specializing in building sustainable supply chains, has joined the initiative of Metaxa Hospitality Group.

According to Metaxa Hospitality Group CEO Andreas Metaxas, establishing a team of sustainable suppliers confirms the role of sustainability as an integral part of the group’s mission during the last 46 years.

“The group ensures the connection of its visitors with local production and tradition, and contributes substantially to the sustainable development of local communities and the environment,” he said.

Based on the Greek island of Crete, the Metaxa Hospitality Group is an internationally recognized and award-winning company with a portfolio of three high-end resorts: the Creta Maris Beach Resort (681 rooms) and the TUI Magic Life (TML) Candia Maris on Crete; and the Santo Maris Oia Luxury Suites & Spa (57 rooms) on Santorini.
