DWP: 5 Reasons to Pick Greece as a Wedding Destination

The Destination Wedding Planners (DWP) platform has listed five reasons for couples to pick Greece as the ideal destination to tie the knot.

According to DWP, Greece is perfectly located between Asia and Europe, offering the best of both worlds and a fusion of classic and exotic.

“Greece is making destination wedding dreams come true for couples from around the world with its stunning views for perfect backdrops, gorgeous venues, planner and designer extraordinaire, and amazing creative suppliers… Its spot on the map makes it the ideal place to gather guests from all over the world,” DWP says.

The wedding business platform lists five reasons for wedding couples to say “yes” to Greece:

Ultra-luxurious hotels

Alila Resort & Spa, Rhodes

DWP considers Greece’s ultra luxury hotels as the ideal wedding venues and introduces couples to RhodesAlila Resport & Spa, a member of Mitsis Hotels, located on a private beach in Faliraki.

“The 300 days of Greek sunshine makes this beachfront hotel perfect for having an outdoor beach wedding. It has 314 luxury rooms to accommodate a large-size wedding with utmost attention to detail and a wedding coordinator to help couples with every step,” the platform says.

Breathtaking sunsets and sweat sunshine

Greece boasts some 250 days of sunshine a year so, chances are highly likely that couples will have sunny rays of warm sunshine for their wedding.

During the summer – from mid-May through September – Greece can pretty much guarantee amazing sunshine and clear blue skies for picture-perfect moments.

The off months are also pretty great if couples wish to avoid heat and don’t want to worry about the rain.

Historic Greek hospitality

Being hospitable has been ingrained in Greek culture since time immemorial, that’s why visiting Greece always means a warm welcome and even warmer smiles.

“In Greece, the word ‘philoxenia‘ means ‘friend of strangers’. Experience ‘xenia’ and be amazed at how the locals go the extra mile to make you and your guests feel at home,” DWP says.

Endless adventure and fun

Greece doubles up as a perfect honeymoon destination for adventure-seeking couples.

DWP suggests that honeymoon couples dive into the turquoise waters of Corfu; kayak around the white rocks of Milos; climb to the top of Mount Zeus; travel from Fira to Oia at sunset; sail to undiscovered Syros or Amorgos; follow mythic heroes to Ithaca; head for Meteora to wander its surreal rock pinnacles.

The magical vibe

The Greek isles are consistently listed as some of the most photogenic, and bucket-list-worthy places on the planet — and for good reason.

According to DWP, the picture-perfect island of Santorini, with its craggy cliffs and proliferation of blue-domed buildings, is a honeymooners’ favorite, while the nearby islands of Rhodes and Paros provide quintessential Greek island living without the crowds.

A leading business platform in the destination wedding industry, DWP released the list on its blog prior to holding its seventh annual congress on Rhodes during November 9-11.

The 7th annual DWP Congress will take place at the ultra luxury Alila Resort & Spa of Mitsis Hotels. According to DWP, the event will be attended by over 500 experts and influencers in the field of luxury wedding from 70 countries.

Nobody does weddings quite like the Greeks ! Our daughter was married at the Aneroussa Beach hotel on Andros. The amphitheater setting is unbeatable and so are the staff.
