ITA: Italy’s New National Airline to Launch on October 15
Italia Trasporto Aereo (ITA), a new state-owned airline and the successor to bankrupt Alitalia, recently announced that it plans to launch operations on October 15.
The announcement follows the news that Italian airline Alitalia went into “extraordinary administration” and stopped selling tickets for flights departing from October 15.
The Board of Directors of ITA last week approved the company’s binding offer for Alitalia’s assets that include 52 aircraft, a related number of slots, as well as contracts and complementary assets from the aviation sector in order to start operations on October 15. The new airline said it already submitted a non-binding offer to Alitalia’s administrators on August 16.
“An indispensable condition and our top priority is to complete negotiation with Alitalia under extraordinary administration for the sale of the aviation perimeter as soon as possible,” ITA chairman Alfredo Altavilla said in the announcement.
The chairman of Italy’s new flag carrier added that the new airline has “confidence in a constructive interaction with the trade unions in order to provide ITA with a new innovative employment contract capable of ensuring structural competitiveness of the airline with competitors.”
ITA already opened the sales of flights and the application process for staff on August 26 after obtaining its air operator certificate and operating license from Italian Aviation Authority ENAC. The website for the collection of applications from people interested in working at ITA is https://cving.com/ita-jobs
The airline has selected the company Covisian as the operator of the new ITA Customer Center following a tender among various operators. The new ITA Customer Center will operate using cloud technologies in collaboration with partners such as Salesforce and Amazon Web. The service will be provided from Italy.
In addition, ITA also said that it will launch a new loyalty program.
