Athens Showcases Culture with ‘Art on the Road’
Athens museums, cultural spaces and all forms of art take the spotlight as part of the “Art on the Road” campaign launched by the municipality together with advertising firm Interbus.
The initiative dubbed “Art on the Road – Let’s Visit Museums” includes a series of actions (in Greek and English) showcasing Athens’ cultural past and present and aiming to support culture and artists which were impacted by the outbreak of Covid-19.
Through Athens Culture Net initiatives in collaboration with Interbus, the city’s buses “feature” works of art and archaeological treasures that can be found at five Athens museums: the National Archaeological Museum, the Benaki Museum, the Museum of Cycladic Art, the Goulandris Museum, and the Municipal Gallery of Athens.
Visitors, commuters, and locals are invited to visit one of the five museums in Athens and see up close the treasures portrayed on the “moving displays”.
“This campaign is one more link in the solidarity chain in support of culture and artists. It was created with the aim of encouraging citizens and visitors to the city to visit the museums of Athens again,” said the municipality in a statement.
The municipal authority is aiming through collaborations with public and private partners to support initiatives that not only offer city dwellers a higher standard of living but support the creation of new cultural spaces in Athens neighbourhoods.
