Travelers Entering Israel from Greece Must Quarantine
Travelers, vaccinated or not, returning to Israel from Greece, the US, France, Italy, Germany and several other countries will be required to quarantine for at least seven days as of August 11 after Israel authorities issued a travel warning in an attempt to curb the spread of the coronavirus (Covid-19) Delta variant.
Greece has now been included on Israel’s “severe travel warning” or “orange list”. Israelis are allowed to visit orange-listed countries but are required by law to self-isolate upon return for 14 days, or seven days if they produce two negative PCR tests.
Israel’s warning comes after the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the US State Department also advised against travel to Greece due to a “very high” risk of Covid-19.
Greece on Romania’s ‘red list’
Meanwhile, Romania also revised its travel guidance for Greece including the country on its “red list”. Inbound Romanian travelers who have visited Greece will be required to quarantine for 14 days. The self-isolation requirement does not apply to those who were fully vaccinated at least 10 days before arrival.
South Aegean islands go ‘dark red’ on ECDC’s map
Last week, the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) placed the south Aegean islands in its “dark red category” after soaring Covid-19 cases there.
Greece is seeing a surge in coronavirus incidents due to the fast spread of the Delta variant which has resulted in most of the country being listed as “red” on the ECDC map, with the exception of Central Greece, Evia island, Thrace and the north Aegean islands which are listed “yellow”.
