German DRV 2021 Conference in Greece a ‘Vote of Confidence’
German travel and tourism stakeholders will be meeting in Greece on October 28-31 for their annual conference demonstrating their confidence in the country.
The German Travel Association (DRV) event will be held at the Costa Navarino luxury resort in Messinia, Peloponnese, co-organized by the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO), the Hellenic Association of Travel & Tourist Agencies (HATTA), and the Federation of Hellenic Associations of Tourist & Travel Agencies (FEDHATTA).
“The decision to host the annual DRV conference in Greece is a ‘vote of confidence’ for our country,” said GNTO Secretary General Dimitris Fragakis.
The DRV conference will be held in Greece for the first time.
“German tourism professionals and leading travel editors will be visiting Greece creating new opportunities to promote and showcase the country in one of our consistently most important markets,” said Fragakis.
Germany is currently Greece’s leading source market. More than 3.7 million German travelers visited Greek destinations before the outbreak of Covid-19 generating over 3 billion euros in revenues.
In addition to strengthening the country’s brand name and promoting Greek destinations, the event will also highlight events and conference (MICE) tourism which is at the center of the GNTO’s tourism strategy for 2021.
Over 450 tour operators, travel agents, travel and tourism media representatives and online companies will be participating in the hybrid event offering both in-person and virtual options due to Covid as well as live activities and experiences in the region. Greek regional authorities will also be participating.
Ahead of the conference, German travel and tourism journalists will be getting a taste of what’s on offer in Athens and the Peloponnese during a fam trip organized by the GNTO.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, last year’s DRV event was cancelled.
