Covid-19: Greece Decides Vaccinated-only and Mixed Spaces as of Mid-July

In its drive to extend vaccination reach, Greece announced on Tuesday that as of July 15, entertainment and F&B venues would be divided into Covid-19 vaccinated-only and mixed spaces.

The move comes a day after the Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis announced a travel gift card plus a free month of phone data worth 150 euros to be awarded to people aged 18-25 who get vaccinated.

Development & Investments Minister Adonis Georgiadis and State Minister Giorgos Gerapetritis announced the new framework covering business and venue operation during a press conference on Tuesday.

The ministers said indoor cinemas and theaters would reopen on July 1 and indoor or outdoor sports venues on July 15 only for vaccinated spectators.

More specifically:

Indoor spaces such as restaurants, cafes, cinemas, theaters, clubs, bars and sports facilities will be divided into two groups:

  • Vaccinated-only for the fully vaccinated (after 14 days) and for those who have recovered in the last six months to operate at 75-80 percent capacity and with no mask requirement.
  • Mixed spaces will be accepting vaccinated customers, people providing negative PCR or rapid test results taken in the previous 48 hours, and those who have recovered in the last six months. These venues will operate at 25 to 75 percent capacity.

Georgiadis said vaccination or non-vaccination status would be indicated via ID card or social security (ΑΜΚΑ).

According to the ministers, it is up to each enterprise to decide on category: “mixed” or “full” and to then declare the information on the government’s central platform to open on July 15. The enterprises will be required to display a special label at the entrance. The government is also leaving it up to business owners to decide whether they will accept all of some of the three categories of customers: fully vaccinated, tested, or recovered.

Gerapetritis said regular inspections would be carried out by authorities and that establishments that fail to abide or are found in violation will be penalized.

“Vaccination is the only way to fully restore citizens’ freedom and is a fair reward for those who have volunteered to be vaccinated. Society, like the economy, cannot stand back [and wait] when vaccination is accessible to all,” he said, adding that a similar system has successfully been implemented in the US, Denmark and France.

The state minister underlined that the new measures “will be implemented with full respect to legislation concerning the protection of personal data and citizens’ rights”.

“It goes without saying that restrictions in place today should be removed, especially for citizens who have chosen to be vaccinated voluntarily,” he said.

Minister Georgiadis went on to add that businesses had received considerable support and that the government was not considering additional support measures. “We are looking to open the economy. We will see in the coming months where this will lead and we will take the necessary decisions then,” he said.

Hi. Have any of you worked in a hospital treating Covid? It’s wrong to assume that only the vulnerable are affected.

We should appreciate that medical science has enabled us to have a hope of leaving this pandemic behind us.

Unfortunately there are many people who are against the vaccines, who will end up contracting Covid, getting seriously ill, and passing it on to other less fortunate people who may not be able to pull through.

It is the people who are not vaccinated that filling our hospitals and causing strain.

    Be responsible and get vaccinated.

So if you’re not not vaccinated you will have to do test every 2 days in order to eat in a restaurant? It sounds ridiculous. Are they trying to kill their tourism?

So we continue doing what we have been doing all the time this nonsense has been going on. Stay at home, not out of fear but because we are being forced to do something we do not believe in. Previous generations in Europe had to wear a yellow star, this regime wants to do something VERY similar

i am living in France , we do not devide space in two , vaccinated and non vaccinated , we wear masks and remain far from each other

when reading this idea of segregation between vacinated and non vaccintaed , why do not distinguish we a yellow star as the SS did during second world war , those vaccinations are just a question of money and fear and to destroy social behaviour
everybody knows but fear the chemist laboratories

What puzzled me most about this quote…”In order to “restore” people’s freedom, we will take from them the freedom to choose, want or not, be vaccinated.

Wow, this is terrible. Where are they getting the data to back up these ridiculous rules? Coercion – practically forcing the population to submit to an experimental drug that is still in clinical trials. Where are the lawyers? Don’t they remember The Nuremberg Code?

Medical segregation «apartheid style» in 2021…. It’s sad, and very provocative.

And all due to a disease with a CFR of 0,26%… Why do people accept this?
