The Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO) this summer is supporting sports and gastronomy events taking place in popular Greek destinations.

These events, according to the GNTO, enrich the Greek tourism product and promote the country’s alternative forms of tourism.

Oceanman Greece

The organization has included the “Oceanman Greece” open water swimming race under its auspices. The international sports event will take place on the Itylo bay in Mani, in the Peloponnese, during June 26-27.

Hosting over 1,000 swimmers from 14 different countries, as well as 3,500 visitors, the event includes a 2km, a 5km and a 10km race as well as a 3×500 relay race and a 500m route for children.

“Oceanman Greece” is also under the auspices of the “Greece 2021” Committee as it includes cultural events related to Greece’s bicentennial since the 1821 Greek War of Independence.

Street Food Festival Crete

The GNTO is also supporting the Street Food Festival Crete, a gastronomy event that will take place in Rethymno (July 2-4), Chania (July 9-11) and Heraklion (September 3-5).

A multi-cultural festival for people of all ages and nationalities, the street food festival event will present traditional salty and sweet tastes of Crete and other Greek regions as well as numerous ethnic cuisines.

The festival will also host Greek and foreign DJs, music bands and Cretan dance groups.

Boats & Yachting Guide 2021

Apart from sports and gastronomy events, the GNTO is also lending its support to events that promote Greek tourism abroad.

The organization has included the 16th edition of the “Boats & Yachting Guide 2021” under its auspices. Published in English and in Greek, the annual guide has over 700.000 readers and presents products and services related to boats and yachts, yacht charter services, equipment, clothes & accessories, marinas, restaurants & bars, hotels and more.
