A big Hollywood production is getting ready to begin filming in Thessaloniki, Northern Greece, the governor of Central Macedonia, Apostolos Tzitzikostas, said on Friday.
According to Tzitzikostas, this is the first time Thessaloniki will be a film location for such a big production which includes a cast of world-famous actors.
The governor made the announcement during a press conference held for the signing of cooperation agreements cementing the Region’s partnerships with the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and the University of Macedonia with regard to the Central Macedonia Film Office.
When asked for details involving the Hollywood film, Tzitzikostas said that the agreement among the Region and the producers is a done deal and that the investment of the production is worth several million euros. He added that more details will be announced in the coming days.
“Don’t be surprised if while you’re drinking coffee on Nikis Street you suddenly see next to you a well-known director and a very famous Hollywood star,” the governor said.
According to local media reports, Spanish actor Antonio Banderas is said to be starring in the movie.
Established in September 2020, the Film Office of the Central Macedonia Region operates as a one-stop-shop for foreign production crews in search of filming locations in the area.
