Angsana Corfu: Banyan Tree Group Opens its First Property in Europe

Banyan Tree Group, the luxury Asian hospitality brand, has announced the opening of its first flagship property in Europe, the Angsana Corfu Resort & Spa on the Greek island of Corfu in the Ionian sea.

Operated by the group’s upscale brand, Angsana, the hotel is south of Corfu Town and close to the picturesque Benitses village, perched on a hill overlooking the Ionian Sea.

Angsana Corfu is housed in the building complex that was once home to the San Stefano. Following a complete renovation, the property was transformed into a luxurious spa and beach resort that will offer a blend of Greek and Asian hospitality.

The new resort is expected to welcome its first visitors in the middle of this summer, offering the high standard services of the Angsana brand and Banyan Tree Hotels.

Its proximity to Achilleion Palace, once home to the famed Empress Sisi of Austria, enriches its surroundings with echoes of a royal era. Located a short 12 km drive south of Corfu town, an UNESCO World Heritage site with its imposing Old Fortress, the resort is strategically positioned for must-see spots, beautiful sandy beaches and historical sites and activities for all tastes.

The resort offers a collection of 159 contemporary rooms and suites, plus 37 luxury villa homes built in the style of local architecture, laid out across the hilltop estate. The estate is surrounded by a landscape with Mediterranean gardens and olive tree groves, overlooking the Benitses Bay, presenting far-reaching views of the Ionian sea and the countryside.

The resort is home to 4 signature restaurants, 7 bars and outdoor lounge terraces overlooking a panorama of breathtaking sea views. Alternatively, guests may enjoy all-day dining at the signature restaurant Ruen Romsai, awaken their Asian senses at Koh or lay under the stars for drinks at the Vertigo rooftop bar.

Amongst Angsana Corfu luxurious facilities, is the signature award winning Angsana SPA, a Spa of true Asian origins, which offers a rejuvenating sense of touch with fusion techniques, where contemporary Western techniques are combined with the art of authentic Asian wellness.
