Preparations Underway for Authentic Marathon Swim Event in July

Early Bird offers available until April 30

The preparations for the Authentic Marathon Swim are currently underway, as organizers are getting ready to hold the historic event for the second consecutive year at Pefki in the Municipality of Istiaia–Edipsos on the Greek island of Evia.

Scheduled to take place during July 2-4, the Authentic Marathon Swim will be organized by the Municipality of Istiaia-Edipsos and held under the auspices of the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO). ActiveMedia Group is responsible for its sports production.

Amateur and professional swimmers from Greece and abroad will visit North Evia again this year and discover the region’s cultural and natural wealth and also become part of history, as the location is the birthplace of marathon swimming.

Routes

Participants will follow the safe 10km swimming route (over the shipwrecks of the Naval Battle of Artemision that took place in 480 B.C.). The event also has routes of 3km, 1.5km and the new 5km. Younger fans of the sea will have the opportunity to test their swimming skills in the 800m children’s race. The 5km, 3km, 1.5km and 800m. routes will have Pefki beach as their starting and finishing point.

A few days are left for the Early Bird prices of the Authentic Marathon Swim’s registration, reaching up to a 33% discount. Interested parties should hurry up to claim the offers that are valid until April 4. Registration for the 800m children’s race is free. Sports for all

The Municipality of Istiaia-Edipsos, in the context of its corporate social responsibility actions and the fight against social exclusion of vulnerable groups of the population, is offering free access to sports for all citizens through the Authentic Marathon Swim. All residents of Istiaia-Edipsos will have the opportunity to take part in the 5km, 3km and 1.5km routes as well as the 800m. children’s race, free of charge.

The Authentic Marathon Swim will be held in accordance with FINA regulations and the health protocol to be established by the experienced team of ActiveMedia Group, based on the instructions of experts of the Hellenic Swimming Federation and the recommendations of the Greek General Secretariat of Sports’ Health Scientific Committee, in order to ensure the health of athletes and attendees.
