Europe’s First ‘Mouratoglou Tennis Center’ to Open at Costa Navarino in Greece

Costa Navarino, a prime tourism destination located in Messinia  in southwest Pelopponnese, has joined forces with French-Greek tennis coach Patrick Mouratoglou for the development of the Mouratoglou Tennis Center Costa Navarino.

According to an announcement by Costa Navarino, Messinia will be the first region in Europe to host a Mouratoglou Tennis Center, which will start its operation this summer.

The resort already operates 16 state-of-the-art tennis courts, 12 of which were created during the last year. The courts cover all three types – clay, hard, natural grass – and are equal to the courts of the Grand Slam tournaments.

With this new collaboration, Costa Navarino aims to strengthen its position as one of the top sports destinations in the world.

“We are excited to expand our sports facilities, work with the best in the world of tennis, and bring the top Mouratoglou Academy to Greece,” said Stefanos Thodorides, managing director of TEMES S.A., the developer of Costa Navarino.

“Costa Navarino is known for providing quality services and authentic experiences that attract people from all over the world, year round. We believe that this collaboration, which combines state-of-the-art tennis courts with high-quality leisure infrastructure, creates a unique product for the international tennis community,” he added.

The facilities

The facilities of the Mouratoglou Tennis Center Costa Navarino are in a unique location overlooking the Ionian sea. The Center covers an area of 19 stremma and includes 12 tennis courts of three types that can accommodate more than 600 visitors.

The facilities also include four clay tennis courts, three badminton courts, a squash and a padel court.

The center’s coaches will apply the Mouratoglou methodology and a wide range of programs designed by the Mouratoglou Academy for individual and group lessons as well as programs for adults and children.

After a successful start to his career with a number of high-level players, in 2012, Patrick Mouratoglou became the official coach of Serena Williams, holder of 23 Grand Slam titles. He has also helped other international tennis players achieve their goals, including Greece’s Stefanos Tsitsipas, Coco Gauff and Grigor Dimitrov.

Referring to the new partnership, Patrick Mouratoglou stressed his connection with Greece.

“I am half French and half Greek and during my childhood I spent many months in Greece. I feel a direct connection with this country,” he said.

“Costa Navarino is a prime tourist destination, and a unique place to live. It attracts people from all over the world, thanks to its infrastructure, location and quality of services. I’m excited to have the opportunity to create a high-quality tennis experience in this incredible place,” he added.
