Major Tourism Investment at ‘Asteria Glyfada’ Moves Forward

Asteria area, Glyfada

Greece’s Central Council of Architecture (KESA) approved on Thursday an architectural study for the overhaul of the historic Asteria hotel and property in Athens’ seaside district of Glyfada along the Athenian Riviera.

Environment Minister Kostas Skrekas described the Asteria project as a landmark investment that will generate multiple benefits and act as a step towards the country’s transition to a sustainable economy.

“This project has multiple benefits in line with our key priorities for the transition to a sustainable economy through the reduction of our environmental footprint,” Skrekas said after the decision was announced.

The plan approved by KESA on Thursday, includes the creation of 115 luxury suites, 14 holiday homes, 12 suites, a showroom and a multipurpose area, two restaurants, two archaeological trails, activities areas for children and teenagers, and a wellness and rejuvenation center. It will also include bungalows, furnished apartments and villas.

Grivalia also plans to invest in the creation of a small electric car network complete with charging stations, pedestrian walkways, as well as open-air art spaces.

Alternate Environment Minister Nikos Tagaras added that the regeneration of the legendary hotel complex “Asteria” will give impetus to the development of the Athenian Riviera.

Grivalia Properties REIC through its hospitality arm, Grivalia Hospitality SA, will implement the project
