Greek Tourism Minister Harry Theoharis briefed his Italian counterpart Massimo Garavaglia during a teleconference on actions taken in Greece to restore travel and reopen to visitors this summer in the aftermath of Covid-19.
Theoharis referred to the importance of vaccination and speedy Covid-19 testing, adding that last year’s experience can be used to improve tourism in 2021.
Newly-appointed, Garavaglia underlined the importance of EU cooperation and cohesion with regard to the rollout of vaccination certificates, adding that Italy was looking to extend the summer tourism season and seeking ways to reopen to international travel. In this direction, Garavaglia stressed the need to restore flights in order for travel to restart.
The two ministers also committed to further strengthening bilateral ties and agreed to work closely with the EU on tourism-related matters.
