Ferry transport in Greece is expected to face disruption on Tuesday, February 23 and Wednesday, February 24, after thirteen Greek seamen’s unions announced a 48-hour strike in all ship categories.

According to a joint announcement, the 13 unions are calling for the abolition of new regulations concerning their collective labor agreements, working hours and leave days.

“The government and shipowners are escalating their attack on our rights,” the unions said in their announcement.

The unionists are also protesting for the restoration of all their pension rights and are demanding owed Covid-19 aid and that more staff be recruited.

Travelers who have booked ferry tickets for February 23-24, are advised to check with their travel agents or contact local port authorities for further information.
