Crete’s Lasithi Plateau Launches Digital Platform for Local Producers

Aiming to support the agrifood sector, the Municipality of Lasithi Plateau on Crete has launched a digital platform featuring electronic shops for local producers.

The agrolasithi.gr platform launched on January 8 and is inviting local producers to register.

Agrolasithi.gr promotes the unique characteristics of our area and offers producers the opportunity to promote their products in Greece and abroad. This is the first time in Greece, that a digital platform offers innovative infrastructure and eshops at no cost for producers,” Lasithi Plateau Mayor Ioannis Stefanakis said in an announcement.

Through agrolasithi.gr, producers have access to their own “digital space”, where they can present their products and upload content such as articles, recipes, photos and videos, as well as accept orders from all over the world.

The digital platform also offers the following:

• An e-profile for each producer
• Tools for the promotion of products
• Tools for receiving orders
• Articles on agrifood and gastronomy
• A customer’s wish list and basket.

The full version of the platform will support wholesale orders and provide access to educational content on new technologies and the agrifood sector for producers.

According to the announcement, agrolasithi.gr is part of the municipality’s broader digital transformation strategy which includes the upgrade of its portal with the addition of online services for citizens such as the automatic digital assistant (chatbot) and the cityon.gr mobile app.

Greek technology and innovation company Crowdpolicy is the municipality’s strategic partner on digital strategy and innovation.

The Lasithi Plateau is located in the Lasithi regional unit of eastern Crete, 70km east of Heraklion.
