Greek Island Sifnos is a Dream Destination, Says UK’s Evening Standard
The Evening Standard, the UK’s free daily newspaper, recently included Sifnos, an island of the Cyclades complex, in its section of Dream Destinations.
“…while most tourists descend on Mykonos to party or to Santorini to watch its famous sunset, those in the know are heading to its lesser known Cycladic neighbour, Sifnos, instead,” journalist Laura Hampson notes.
In her feature, Hampson highlights Sifnos’ excellent cuisine, beautiful churches and unique beaches.
The Evening Standard’s Dream Destinations section also provides information on Sifnos’ sites of interest, churches, villages, pottery workshops, trails and historic monuments.
“Tourism is our economy’s oxygen,” Sifnos Mayor Maria Nadali told the Athens News Agency (amna.gr).
“Adapting to current conditions, we mobilize the island’s friends and participate in virtual exhibitions and digital tourism workshops in order to approach our [source] tourism markets,” she added.
Other dream destinations included in the Evening Standard’s section are Andalusia, Capri, the coastline of Mexico and Zambia.
