Greece Shines at Global Traveler Awards

Greece has been honored for its unique destinations and tourism offerings by the digital edition of US travel magazine Global Traveler.

Organized by FXExpress Publications, Inc., the Global Traveler Awards 2020 recognized the best in the world of leisure and lifestyle travel including goods, services, destinations, hotels, airlines and cruises.Santorini, for the seventh consecutive year was announced “Best Island in Europe” at the Global Traveler’s 2020 Leisure Lifestyle Awards.

In addition, Greece was named “Favorite Country” by the readers of FXExpress’ online magazine trazeetravel.com, which targets travelers aged 25-40.

The country also ranked second in the preferences of travelers in the “Best Wedding Destination” category. Tahiti ranked first and the Cook Islands third.

“These new distinctions confirm that Greece ranks high in the preferences of foreign travelers. This is also an encouraging sign ahead of 2021 – a year when the recovery of Greek tourism will gradually begin,” Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO) Secretary General Dimitris Fragakis said.

He added that the United States is among Greece’s main source tourism markets and the GNTO is currently working on a promotional plan through its local office, which has been upgraded to take on a more active role.

The winners of the awards will be published in the December issue of Global Traveler and posted on the websites globaltravelerusa.com, trazeetravel.com and webfamily.com.
