Greece and China recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to jointly celebrate 2021 as the Year of Culture and Tourism.
Signed by the Ambassador of Greece to China George Iliopoulos and Chinese Minister of Culture and Tourism Hu Heping in Beijing, the MoU confirms the friendship of the two countries, and aims to deepen their relations and expand their cooperation in culture and tourism.
During the Greece-China Year of Culture and Tourism 2021, the two countries will strengthen their cooperation on aspects related to cultural heritage and contemporary artistic creation.
They will jointly work to tackle the illegal trade of archaeological artifacts, promote archaeological research, organize exhibitions on archaeology and contemporary art, digitize cultural heritage and exchange knowhow for the protection of monuments and archaeological sites.
In the field of tourism, Greece and China will work together to exchange statistics, promote tourism destinations, certify quality services and organize familiarization trips for reporters with the aim to promote emerging destinations.
The two countries will also explore the possibility of holding tourism events in order to bring local authorities and travel & tourism associations closer, raise awareness, organize shows, gastronomy seminars, festivals and other events, and promote local products by incorporating them in the tourism experience.
Furthermore, Greece and China will continue the exchange, promotion and development of theater and music productions.
The cooperation between the two countries will take place within the framework of the UNESCO Convention for the Protection of World Cultural and Natural Heritage.
