Travel Bloggers Greece, the first professional blogger networking group in the country, visited Kasos in early October to showcase the Greek island’s tourism attractions and promote the destination to a wider international and domestic audience.

The southernmost island in the Aegean Sea, Kasos is part of the Karpathos regional unit.

According to the group’s co-founder Elena Sergeeva, during this period of uncertainly – due to the coronavirus (Covid-19) – and changing customer needs, Kasos has been proactive in bringing attention to its tourism providers and entering into the Internet age.

“Kasos is raw, unpretentious and unique in so many ways. It is an island that needs a little more effort to get to, but if you take the decision to visit you will be treated to a once in a lifetime experience,” said Sergeeva.

Hosted by tour operator group “Kasos Tours”, the travel bloggers received a warm welcome from the community that actively participated in showing them the best the destination has to offer.

The locals of Kasos took a very warm approach to showcasing their island. Pictured is Manolis Magiorkinos, a retired seafarer that creates wooden ship models, that incorporate the maritime traditional elements of the island’s history.

“Our hosts introduced us to the authentic side of Kasos — a delightful island where time stands still and luxury lies in simplicity. A place where you come to reconnect with the land, the people and above all yourself,” she added.

The bloggers visited the area’s historical landmarks, including the secluded monastery of Saint George, local producers, the archaeologically significant site of Ellinokamara, and also explored the untamed terrain and beaches on offer.

The bloggers’ hosts, George and Foula Mastromanolis, owners of Kasos Tours, invited Travel Bloggers Greece to the island after reading about the network online.

“This was our first time inviting five bloggers to visit the island. We saw it as an opportunity to have them experience our hidden treasures of flavors and sceneries… They were a very professional team that taught us the passion of the travel experience,” the owners of Kasos Tours said.
