Apple Leisure Group Expands to Greece, Takes Over Management of Three Hotels
The three hotels will operate under their new names in the summer of 2022
Apple Leisure Group (ALG), a leading US group in the travel segment, recently took over the management of three hotels in Greece owned by Hotel Investment Partners (HIP), a leading hotel owner in Southern Europe.
With this agreement, Greece becomes the second European market for ALG, which since 2019 has incorporated 19 hotels in Spain, spread across the Balearic and the Canary Islands.
The three new hotels in Greece are operated by AMResorts, ALG’s hotel brand manager, and located on the Greek islands of Crete, Corfu and Zakynthos. In total, they have 845 rooms and will operate under the “Dreams Resorts & Spas” brand on Crete and Corfu, and under the “Alua Hotels & Resorts” brand on Zakynthos.
“Our arrival to Greece, one of Europe’s main tourist destinations, finally launches of our expansion beyond Spain and proves the interest of institutional investors in our brands, as well as our proven experience partnering with these investors –positioned to play a key role in the dynamization of the hotel industry in the coming year. This milestone also confirms the robustness of our company amidst the complex context of the COVID-19 pandemic,” ALG President for Europe and President of Global Strategy Javier Águila said.
The company’s new 5-star hotel in Crete will be named “Dreams Crete” and will span 357 rooms at a location near Malame beach. The hotel on Corfu, also in the 5-star category, will be called “Dreams Corcyra” and will offer 327 rooms, while the property on Zakynthos will be known as “Alua Soul Plagos Beach” and will operate in the 4-star segment and have 161 rooms.
The three hotels, which HIP plans to refurbish in order to adapt them to the standards and attributes of the AMResorts’ brands, will start operating under their new names in the summer of 2022.
With this operation, ALG now has 22 hotels and 7,205 rooms in Europe. Prior to its expansion in Greece, AMResorts already managed 10 hotels owned by HIP in the Spanish islands of Mallorca, Ibiza and Fuerteventura.
