Greek Police Use Loudspeakers to Remind People of New Covid-19 Restrictions

The Hellenic Police (ELAS) has released an audio message informing citizens on the new rules in place announced for areas that are designated as high-risk (levels 3-orange and 4-red) on the country’s Covid-19 risk-assessment map.

The pre-recorded message will be heard through loudspeakers as of Saturday, October 14, on police cars when on patrol in Athens, Attica (level 3-orange) and other areas considered high-risk due to the amount of cases recorded.

The message has been recorded in Greek, English and Arabic.

In English the message says:

“We remind you that the use of face masks is obligatory in all outdoor spaces.

Nighttime curfew is now in place. People are not allowed to be outdoors between 12:30 midnight and 5 o’clock in the morning.

Please protect public health. Avoid crowding. We follow the instructions. We stay safe.”

Greek health authorities on Friday announced 841 new coronavirus cases. The total number of Covid-19 cases in Greece has reached 29,057, with the death toll at 559.
