The medals
According to SEGAS, runners of the Virtual Athens Marathon will receive a special medal that has been exclusively created for this year’s event.
The special medal series introduced last year will be offered to the participants of the 2021 Athens Marathon event.
The first medal of that series, was dedicated to the history and evolution of the Marathon movement and was offered to participants in 2019. It was signed by popular Greek artist Alekos Fasianos, who depicted the historic Marathon Battle on the back side of the medal.
The second medal of the series will be offered to the participants of the 2021 event. Set to be created by Greek artist Kostas Varotsos, it will be dedicated to Imerodromos, the soldier that carried the message of victory from the battle field to Athens.
Each medal includes one of the eight letters of the word “Marathon”.
The Greek Travel Pages (GTP) is a communication sponsor of Virtual Athens Marathon 2020.
