Costa Cruises’ September Itineraries are Exclusively for Italians

Italian cruise line Costa Cruises recently announced that the September 2020 cruises of Costa Deliziosa from Trieste and Costa Diadema from Genoa will be reserved exclusively for Italian guests, with one-week itineraries calling at Italian ports only.

The company said the cruises, which will be its first itineraries in the post-coronavirus (Covid-19) era, will allow Italians to rediscover in safety Italy’s finest destinations.

According to Costa Cruises, the decision, which cancels any previous announcement, was taken to ensure maximum safety for guests, crew and the destination communities, and is in line with its decision to restart responsibly.

The decision to offer cruises exclusively to Italians was made considering the evolution of the epidemiological scenario and taking in account the regulation issued on August 13 by the Italian Ministry of Health regarding mandatory checks for travellers returning from some European and foreign destinations, which suggests a cautious approach.

“Therefore, this solution will allow Costa guests to better enjoy their holiday, with less worries,” the company said.

Departure dates

The departure dates of the two ships are: September 6, 13, 20, 27 for the Costa Deliziosa and September 19 for the Costa Diadema.

From September 6 to September 27, Costa Deliziosa will depart every Sunday from Trieste, allowing guests to rediscover five destinations in Southern Italy rich in charm, history and culture, such as Bari and Brindisi in Puglia, Corigliano-Rossano in Calabria, Siracusa and Catania in Sicily.

On September 19, Costa Diadema will leave from Genoa to call at magnificent Italian art cities and seaside resorts in the western Mediterranean: Civitavecchia/Rome, Naples, Palermo, Cagliari and La Spezia.

Costa Cruises also confirms the extension until September 30 of the pause for all the other cruises, except for the above-mentioned departures of Costa Deliziosa and Costa Diadema.

The company hopes that from October the situation will allow to welcome on board its ships also guests of other nationalities.

Costa Cruises has developed the Costa Safety Protocol for its fleet, which is consistent with the health protocols defined by the Italian government and European (EU Healthy Gateways) authorities.
