All travelers entering Greece from Sweden, Czech Republic, Belgium, Spain and The Netherlands as of August 17 will be obliged to present a negative molecular test result (PCR) for coronavirus (Covid-19) upon arrival to the country.

The test must be performed up to 72 hours before travelers enter Greece.

The announcement followed a teleconference of government officials chaired by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis on Monday. The new measure was decided after a spike in confirmed Covid-19 cases was recorded during the past days.

The negative molecular test result (PCR) for coronavirus must be from a certified diagnostic center and in English when presented to Greek control authorities. The test result must include passport or ID details of travelers.

It is noted that airlines must check whether passengers have a negative Covid-19 test before the flight. If not, passengers should not be allowed to board. Airlines that do not comply with this obligation will be responsible for the repatriation of passengers at their own expense.

It is reminded that all travelers to Greece are still obliged to complete the Passenger Locator Form (PLF) 24 hours before entering the country.

Where do you show your negative PCR test? I have a domestic flight after landing in Athens, so should the test date and time be max 72 hours old when I show it in Athens or when I land on Naxos?

You need the form and the test only to enter the country. After that you don’t need it

Must the result of the PCR test be printed on paper, or is an electronic version sufficient ? We’ll pass the test just before our departure from Belgium, so we’ll receive the result by email during our journey to Ancona.

I understand the concern of Greece, but these requirements will (potential) tourist make decide to look for less hassle and costly alternatives. Also, why only these countries?. We are free to travel to Germany and England, countries who’s citizens dont need a negative covid test max 72 hours before arrival.please tell me how I can take a test, drive to Ancona and sail to Patra within 72 hrs?

I will have to cancel our Greece Bound ferry on sep 2 to Patras

Contact the Dutch embassy in Greece.

If you travel by plane from Italy to Greece, a negative PCR test is not a requirement in order to board the plane. However, everyone traveling by land (with a car) needs to. I do not know the rules regarding traveling by boat.

Nevertheless, it is possible to take a PCR test in Italy. You will need to go to a doctor first! You can take the test at a place called ‘ASL’ (they are all over the country), but only when you are in possession of a prescription.
