Samos Invites Travelers to Explore its Alternative Tourism Side
The alternative tourism offerings of the Greek island of Samos were presented on Wednesday by the Municipality of Eastern Samos, during an event in Athens held in cooperation with the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO).
“The dream of every visitor to experience unforgettable holidays comes alive on Samos, an island offering crystal clear waters, traditional mountain villages, fine local products and sweet wine,” Eastern Samos Mayor Giorgos Stantzos said while introducing the municipality’s new website.
Titled “Samos Explore Within”, the new website (www.samosexplore.com) offers information on the alternative tourism activities offered on the island including water sports, hiking, climbing, nature activities, gastronomic delights, local products, religious tourism, culture, local customs and many more.
According to Stantzos, Samos’ development was previously based on mass tourism but recent shifts in global demand have shown that the interest of travelers is now focused on quality and alternative tourism forms.
“Based on this data, we have attempted to create a more comprehensive tourism strategy, an action plan that would combine an improved mass tourism model with contemporary demand, but mainly the development of new quality alternative forms of tourism,” he added.
The Samos Explore Within website was created by the iArk Digital Agency.
The municipality’s presentation took place at the GNTO headquarters in Athens and was attended by the organization’s president, Angela Gerekou and secretary general, Dimitris Fragakis.
I’m very pleased to hear the news. We hope to reach Samos between August 12 to 24, travelling for Romania. We are big fans of Greek tourism, have seen most of Greek islands and would like a lot to arrive there and explore Samos.
Unfortunately,we will not go from Poland this year 🙁
Samos, see you next year! I hope..
