Greece in Top 5 Most Searched Quarantine-free Destinations for Brits
Greece is among the top five most searched for quarantine-free destinations for British travelers, according to data provided by ESTA, a US visa application assistance and processing firm.
COVID-19 travel restrictions have put a hold on tourism activity for some time. However, according to ESTA, the UK government’s new quarantine-free destinations announcement means that post-lockdown travel is on the rise.
Bu using Google Trends data, ESTA explored the top 20 quarantine-free holidays that are being searched for the most and revealed Britain’s most desirable destinations to visit post-lockdown.
Topping the list at number one is The Netherlands, with its flowing canals and colorful tulips.
Greece has made the list at number two trumping it’s Mediterranean neighbors Spain and Italy.
The Czech Republic ranks third, while the Top 5 also includes Ireland in the fourth place and Hungary in the fifth position.
To determine the top most searched for quarantine-free destinations for the Brits, ESTA looked at the interest on Google of the 75 quarantine-free countries. It used the original list of quarantine-free destinations and data was pulled using Google Trends with the search terms “travel to X” from pre-lockdown in the United Kingdom (1-7 March) and also from the present score (28 June – 4 July).
The percentage change was calculated to show the increase in the interest for each country.
