Greece Puts Health First, Says New Tourism Campaign

The Tourism Ministry and the Greek National Tourism Organization on Monday launched a new campaign that focuses on the restart of Greek tourism, following the COVID-19 crisis, and the country’s promotion as a safe destination.

Titled “Destination Greece Health First”, the campaign will promote the country to markets abroad. It includes a video that features distinctive images of Greece and informs potential travelers that the country has undertaken all the necessary health protocols to ensure safe carefree holidays to its visitors.

The video also introduces potential visitors to the “Greece Health First” microsite, where they can find information on everything they need to know about the health protocols applied in Greece against Covid-19, as well as the Passenger Locator Form (PLF).

It should be noted that travelers to Greece will be required to fill in the Passenger Locator Form 24 hours – not 48 hours as was the case until now – prior to travel, starting July 9.

“This campaign will promote the message of restart, safety and hospitality,” Greek Tourism Minister Harry Theoharis said, during the campaign’s presentation at the Acropolis Museum.

Tourism Minister Harry Theoharis and GNTO Secretary General Dimitris Fragakis.

“The first phase of Greece’s campaign was launched during the COVID-19 crisis with #GreeceFromHome – that kept our country alive in the hearts of people… The second phase, with #EndlessGreekSummer”, reminded us that Greek summer never really ends… Today we present ‘Destination Greece Health First’, a campaign that provides information for travelers to make the pivotal decision to visit our country,” Tourism Minister Harry Theoharis said.

Through social media, a dedicated microsite and the new “Visit Greece” digital app, the initiative is designed to provide information to foreign visitors that wish to have a safe trip to Greece.

“Today we are restarting Greece’s major international campaign abroad. Together with the Tourism Ministry we decided to create a campaign that centers around the problem that the global tourism industry is up against and focuses on the issue of health,” GNTO Secretary General Dimitris Fragakis said.

The “Destination Greece Health First” campaign also offers content such as videos, photos and graphics, which aim to influence those who wish to travel to Greece this year, but are reluctant due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Thank You ! Good coverage. But We would like more info about precautions, like facemasks and so on. We are over 60 years old, and wearing facemask during the entire stay is not acceptable.

I have a holiday to Rhodes on 29th August from Newcastle UK – I can see flights to Corfu & Crete start in July but flights to Rhodes don’t start until August. Is there a reason for this? I visit Rhodes every year & have many Greek friends & really hope to get back there.

Thank you for taking precautions. I’m traveling to Greece on 9th August. I won’t have a phone with me because my cell doesn’t work outside of Canada. How will you know where I am?

Good morning, firstly thank you for your extensive news coverage on the Covid-19 pandemic. I am certain that the information that you continuously update has been most valuable to one and all in the hotel industry.
Just a note; the help line 1572 on the microsite ‘Greece Health First’ does not answer? I needed to know specifically which, hotels have been selected as Covid quarantine centres in the Peloponnese. Can you help?
Thank you & keep up the good work!
