The Greek transport ministry announced this week a set of revised Covid-19 measures with regard to private or public transport in passenger vehicles including mini-buses, vans, and cars to apply through to July 12.

More specifically according to the ministerial decision:

– Three passengers (from two) in addition to the driver will be allowed for private cars with up to seven seats,

– Private vehicles of up to nine seats (double-cabin, mini-vans and mixed use vehicles) can transport five passengers plus driver (from four).

With regard to vehicles for professional/public use such as taxis or special leases:

– Vehicles of up to seven seats – driver included – can transport three passengers (up from two),

– Vehicles of up to nine seats with driver are allowed to transport five passengers (from four). This can change only in cases involving the transport of family members – parents with children – and must be verified through ID card, passport or driver’s license,

– Both drivers and passengers must wear masks at all times. Fines of 150 euros are imposed on both driver and passenger in case of violation.

Ministry authorities advise the limited use of air conditioning or with open windows so that air can be recycled.

„ With regard to vehicles for professional/public use such as taxis or special leases:– Vehicles of up to seven seats – driver included – can transport three passengers (up from two),: that would mean in one car only 3 persons in a rental car? The rental car companies write for a car with up to seven seats: driver and additional three persons.
So please let me know who is wrong? At the moment my car company writes that we can drive with four people in a car.
    Best regards, thank you Christian
