Greece Not Accepting Flights from UK and Sweden Until July 15

Greece will not be accepting direct flights from the United Kingdom* and Sweden until July 15, it was announced on Monday.
The announcement followed a meeting at the Maximos Mansion, chaired by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, ahead of Greece’s regional airports opening to international flights on Wednesday, July 1.
Regarding which non-European Union travellers will be allowed entry as of July 1, Greece intends to follow the list expected to be released soon by European officials, a statement by the PM’s press office said. The list will include the countries whose travellers the bloc will allow in when the EU’s external borders are reopened on July 1. According to EU officials, the criteria will be based on the epidemiological situation and the response to Covid-19 in the non-EU countries.
During the meeting, which was attended by many government ministers, all the measures taken against Covid-19 were reviewed and discussions focused on the protocols for testing passengers at Greece’s points of entry and the country’s recently announced quarantine hotels.
According to PM Mitsotakis, data involving Greece’s opening to tourists will be constantly evaluated.
He also called for the good cooperation between the ministries to continue. “Mistakes and setbacks are inevitable, but with good cooperation and timely action we can deal with them,” he said.
It is reminded that passengers arriving to Greece by air, sea or road, are now required to complete a Passenger Locator Form (PLF) at least 48 hours before entering the country and provide information including their point of departure and the address of their stay while in Greece.
Please note: For clarifications on entrance to Greece as of July 1, travelers are advised to contact the closest Greek Embassy or consulate prior to travel or consult directly with the airport.
* It should be noted that Greece’s ban on flights to/from the UK originally expired on June 30. A new aviation directive (NOTAM) – by the Hellenic Civil Aviation Authority is expected to be announced.
If I live in the UK can I fly to Greece via Germany before 15th July does anyone know?

So Greece is banning UK residents but Scotland has been good why should we be penalised.
Its the uncertainty of not knowing if you are going or not!!!!!
Just had to cancel because of the sudden change of heart regarding air bridge – what a nightmare- cost us a small fortune whcih will probably not get back from insurer – had hung on to booking with owners help extending deadline but as were due to fly 24 July is now all too risky to pay him the final 5K installment & book flights!!
Come on Greece – sort yourselves out before you go bust again & take us, the villa owners & airlines with you!!
John, it is the UK that should get its act together. It’s rich to ask a country with a grand total of 3K COVID cases (daily increases in the UK…) to sort itself out. It’s opened its borders to countries that didnt shoot themselves in the foot- like the UK did. It is protecting its citizens and the tourists from responsible countries. So, rather than complain, stop and think about why the UK messed up so bad (and I say that being a UK citizen, who escaped to my Greek villa in March, seeing the madness set on).
Don’t book your holliday in Greece, they roll the 15 days ban since April, and they just announce the new one the day before the end of the next one.
They prefer you to travel with a 3 hours stopover instead of allowing direct flight. SUCH A JOKE !

Why penalise Northern Ireland because England is bad, the UK is not a Country there are four Countries, you will lose long trrm visitors to Crete because of this.
Good morning, Myself and husband have flights booked to go to Corfu from London Luton on the 5th July , we have had no notifications of any cancellations,after hearing the news we are now sceptical.

The UK is four Countries not one, you are penalising the other Countries because of England. Here in Northern Ireland we are down to the odd death and very very few new cases. You ban us but allow China in, been going to Crete for years booked Malta instead many more UK residents might just rethink as well.
Hi. Does this mean that air travel from the UK will be allowed after July 15th, or that a decision on whether to allow it will be taken on or around the 15th?
I.e If I have a flight booked from London to Greece on the 23rd, how confident should I be of being allowed to fly? Thanks.
So Greece is banning its main tourism contributor until 15/7 just when uk is announcing air bridges & quarantine lifting. Doesn’t anyone talk to anyone? No wonder airlines are not rescheduling & people are scared of booking, then the gov. complain about no economic recovery. Crazy situation.
