In efforts to support Greece’s national plan to curb the coronavirus pandemic, Metaxa Hospitality Group announced the donation of 30,000 euros to the referral laboratory for Covid-19 testing of the University of Crete.
The Laboratory of Clinical Virology of the university’s medical school is expected to conduct a large number of molecular tests for Covid-19 throughout the region of Crete. These tests are considered significant for the protection of public health and the government’s efforts to restart the local economy.
The Metaxa Hospitality Group also recently donated 10 tablet devices to the Elementary School of Kelessoi, in the Municipality of Malevizi, to cover the needs of students during their online classes.
“With a sense of responsibility, amid this difficult time for the tourism industry, we support the Laboratory of Clinical Virology, which is at the forefront of the fight against the coronavirus, and cover the needs of Crete’s students,” the Group’s CEO, Andreas Metaxas, said.
“At Metaxa Hospitality Group, we always put people and their needs first. Social contribution is in our DNA. I wish strength and good health to all. Together we can make it,” he added.
The portfolio of Metaxa Hospitality Group includes the Creta Maris Beach Resort (681 rooms), the Magic Life Candia Maris (317 rooms) and one of the largest conference centers in Greece. In 2016 the group invested in a new destination and opened the Santo Maris Oia Luxury Suites & Spa (57 rooms) on Santorini.
