Hellenic Chamber of Hotels Donates €1m to Fight Against Covid-19

The Hellenic Chamber of Hotels on Thursday announced that it will donate 1 million euros to support Greece’s healthcare system in its battle against the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic.

“Greek hoteliers have proven that they always know how to support during difficult times. So even now, during this unprecedented global situation, we are joining the effort for the common good,” the chamber’s president, Alexandros Vassilikos, said in an announcement.

Vassilikos underlined that despite the huge blow Greece’s hotel businesses have received from the coronavirus pandemic, the decision to donate one million euros to the public health system was the obvious decision for the hoteliers to do.

“It is a small expression of our appreciation to the country’s medical staff that gives its own daily battles to save lives, give hope and give the chance for our country’s economy to open again,” he said.

It is noted that the chamber in February announced the establishment of “Hotels For”, a new hospitality sector social responsibility initiative that will see to support those in need and promote sustainable development in accordance with the goals set out by the UN.
