Covid-19: Greek Hotels Operating During Pandemic to Receive Financial Aid
The year-round hotels in Greece that are operating during the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic will be able to receive financial aid, according to a recent decision by the ministries of finance and tourism.
The hotels in question are exempt from a government decision that ordered the temporary shutdown of the country’s year-round hotels to limit the spread of the coronavirus.
The amount of the financial aid concerns the period of time for which the government has decided that the hotels should remain open (currently one month) for reasons of public interest and will be determined for each unit in accordance to the difference shown in April 2020 turnover compared to the same month in 2019.
Greece is currently in a national lockdown – through to April 27 – in efforts to contain the spread of Covid-19, which has so far infected 2,170 people and left 102 dead.
